6th Grade Math
Transforming education with online, afterschool enrichment classes
How we work
Our extensive curriculum covers multiple angles so your child can succeed
Common core
Our curriculum is framed around the Common Core so your child can learn the skills needed to succeed inside the classroom and beyond.
Psychology of learning
Our curriculum enhances critical thinking, providing questions that practice children's higher-order thinking. This makes learning more effective.
Challenging curriculum and extensive resources
Thanks to the increased efficiency gained from the comprehensive skills taught in our program, all of our students engage with challenging content and have the necessary resources to thrive.
Standard level
Our standard class is designed to align with international benchmarks, ensuring that students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for all marks of life. By incorporating the best practices and diverse learning resources, we aim to enhance critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills. Our approach not only boosts academic performance but also fosters a mindset geared towards success.
Advanced level
Our advanced class provides students with a more challenging curriculum that encourages deeper understanding and critical thinking. This level is designed for those who are ready to push their boundaries while still receiving the support needed to succeed. With a focus on developing essential skills such as analysis, synthesis, and evaluation, the advanced level equips students with the tools they need to excel academically and confidently transition into more demanding courses.
Distinction level
Our distinction class is structured to challenge students and prepare them for advanced coursework by promoting critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent learning. Through rigorous curricula and enriched activities, students develop the skills needed to excel in difficult subjects. This class not only aims for academic excellence but also encourages a mindset of curiosity and resilience, pushing students to go above and beyond their limits.
(Level 1) Standard 6th Grade Curriculum
Our standard level class focuses on expanding students' mathematical skills by introducing more advanced concepts and applications. These standards cover ratios and proportional relationships, the number system including operations with fractions and negative numbers, expressions and equations, geometry involving area, surface area, and volume, as well as statistics and probability. Students are expected to delve deeply into ratio concepts, work with negative numbers, solve algebraic equations, and apply mathematical reasoning to real-world problems. By the end of sixth grade, students should have a solid understanding of arithmetic operations with various number types and be able to apply their knowledge to statistical analysis and probability calculations. Mastery of these standards sets the stage for continued success in mathematics as students progress to higher grade levels.
(Level 2) Advanced 6th Grade Curriculum
Our advanced level class focuses on expanding students' mathematical skills by introducing more advanced concepts and applications. By the end of fifth grade, students should have a solid understanding of arithmetic operations with various number types and be able to apply their knowledge to statistical analysis and probability calculations. Mastery of these standards sets the stage for continued success in mathematics as students progress to higher grade levels.
(Level 3) Distinction 6th Grade Curriculum
Our distinction level class serves as a crucial stepping stone in students' mathematical education, bridging elementary arithmetic with more advanced algebraic concepts. The curriculum focuses on fundamental topics such as operations with integers, fractions, decimals, and percentages, as well as introductory concepts in algebra like variables, expressions, and equations. Students learn essential problem-solving strategies and mathematical reasoning skills that form the basis for more complex mathematical concepts. Pre-algebra aims to build students' confidence in manipulating numbers and variables, laying a solid foundation for success in future math courses. By mastering pre-algebra skills, students develop a strong mathematical fluency that is essential for their academic and practical endeavors.
The Research
We use innovative methods, and they have been proven to work by research.
Emotional literacy
"Emotional literacy programs improve children's academic achievement scores and school performance. This isn't an isolated finding; it has been replicated in various studies." (Goleman, 2021, Harvard PhD)
Effective learning
Emerging studies indicate that engaging in higher-order thinking enhances the development of prior knowledge schemas more effectively and profoundly compared to lower-order thinking (Liu et al., 2021).
Breaking the efficiency time-trap
Research indicates that students who have difficulty engaging in higher-order thinking struggle to interact with course material at the expected depth of knowledge in their program (Zoller, 2016).
Growth mindset
Mistakes are the inevitable part of the learning process. School children with growth mindset endorsement performed with higher accuracy after mistakes (Schroeder et al., 2017).
Higher-order thinking
After implementing higher-order thinking, findings demonstrate statistically significant gains in students' academic achievements and proficiency (Teemant et al., 2016).
Enhanced productivity
"People with well-developed emotional skills are also more likely to be content and effective in their lives, mastering the habits of mind that foster their own productivity; people who cannot marshal some control over their emotional life fight inner battles that sabotage their ability for focused work and clear thought." (Goleman, 2021, Harvard PhD)
